Starting in 2014, Yamaha implemented OBDII like diagnostics on some of their motorcycles. After doing some research, we found out that it is possible to connect an OBDII scanner to read data from the bike. However, not many scanners out there support Yamaha specific communication and a result, the data may not be valid. The user can retrieve codes and clear codes. The data that is being displayed for codes is not accurate since the OBDII scanners were meant to work with cars. The clear codes functions work well, which is probably one of the most important feature that enthusiast would want to use.
In order to connect to the bike, you need a scanner and an adapter cable. Because the connector on the bike is very different than the 16-pin OBDII connector that is found on cars. Yamaha models use a 4-pin connector which we offer in our store.
